The Super Bowl usually signals the end of professional football until the beginning of August, but that isn’t the case anymore. The XFL is back, and there is plenty of buzz and excitement surrounding this league.
The opening weekend was viewed as a success, and it should be a terrific season in the XFL. Let’s take a look at the current betting odds to win the XFL Title, with the records included after the first weekend of football.
Current Odds to Win XFL Title
DC Defenders (1-0) +300
Former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones looked like an early MVP candidate in week one for the DC Defenders, and he might be the best passer in the league. Jones threw the ball effectively and was also able to keep some drives alive with his legs.
DC also showed a dominant defense that scored a pair of touchdowns in the week one win over the Seattle Dragons.
Houston Roughnecks (1-0) +350
The Houston Roughnecks did not look good for the first half of their season opener, but things changed in a hurry for their offense. Houston scored 25 straight points behind quarterback P.J. Walker’s four touchdown passes.
The Roughnecks look like they will play in plenty of shootouts this season.
Dallas Renegades (0-1) +500
The Dallas Renegades were the overwhelming favorite to win the XFL Title before the season began, but things did not go well for them in week 1. Dallas was stunned by the St. Louis BattleHawks, but they are still considered one of the favorites.
Quarterback Landry Jones did not suit up in week 1 due to injury, and his presence on the field should turn things around quickly for this team.
New York Guardians (1-0) +600
The New York Guardians were absolutely dominant on the defensive end of the field in week 1, holding the Tampa Bay Vipers to just three points. New York is going to be taking on the DC Defenders in week two, and we should get a better idea of whether or not this defense is for real.
St. Louis BattleHawks (1-0) +600
The BattleHawks were huge underdogs in their season opener against the Dallas Renegades, but they were also big winners. St. Louis will have to score more than 15 points if they plan on winning any more games, but their defense looked pretty impressive in the season opener.
This might be the best value bet at the moment when looking at the odds. St. Louis should also have one of the best home crowds in the league as the town has quickly fallen in love with the BattleHawks.
Tampa Bay Vipers (0-1) +600
The Tampa Bay Vipers could do little right on the offensive side of the football in week one, and that will have to be something that needs to improve in a hurry. Marc Trestman is supposed to be an offensive guru, but his offense looked confused and lackluster in week one.
There are plenty of things to fix for the Tampa Bay Vipers going forward.
Los Angeles Wildcats (0-1) +800
The Los Angeles Wildcats were brutal on defense in the season opener, and it cost defensive coordinator Pepper Johnson his job after just one week! Rumors are also swirling that captain Anthony Johnson has been released from the team and is now a free agent.
There is plenty of drama and turmoil surrounding this team.
Seattle Dragons (0-1) +1200
After just one week of the XFL season, it appears that the Seattle Dragons might be the worst team in the league. The Dragons suffered a 31-19 defeat to the DC Defenders, and their defense did not look very strong.
There is always a chance for them to turn things around, but they will be big underdogs moving forward.
