A little NFL background

The National Football League (NFL) is an American football league which started in 1920 in the United States.

It is divided into 2 different conferences, the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC), each comprising of 16 teams.

Both conferences are further sub-divided into 4 divisions each of 4 teams.  These divisions are broadly geographical based (North, South, East, West).  The pinnacle of the contest is the Super Bowl between the two conference champions.

The most recent Super Bowls winners are:

2013: Baltimore Ravens, who beat the 49ers 34-31

2012: New York Giants, who beat the Patriots 21-17

2011: Green Bay Packers, who beat the Steelers 31-25

2010: New Orlean Saints, who beat the Colts 31-17

2009: Pittsburgh Steelers, who beat the Cardinals 27-23

2008: New York Giants, who beat the Patriots 17-14

The sides with most Super Bowls wins are the Pittsburgh Steelers with 6, the Dallas Cowboys with 5, and the San Francisco 49ers with 5.  Two unfortunate teams have reached the Super Bowl 4 times only to lose all 4 times (the Minnesota Vikings, and the Buffalo Bills).

Whilst really long touchdown passes are uncommon (Brett Favre holds the record of fifteen 70+ yard passes in a season), shorter 25+ yeard passes are much more frequent, making this a pretty decent money-back deal.

Betting no more than £/€100 per game will maximise your match equity.

You would do well to consider the starting quarterbacks when deciding on which matches to bet on.  The best quarterbacks this season have been talked about as being: Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers), Peyton Manning (Denver Broncos), Tom Brady (New England Patriots), Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints), Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers), and Eli Manning (New York Giants).
